mother

a poem by Sarim Ard:

More than desperate is my door

For you to eagerly knock upon

No more mermaids stumble upon my shore

No more fairies in my lawn

There's nothing that's been wanted more

In the history of wanting

Because the thought of future

Without you is haunting

The reality is harsh and unacceptable

But I know that you now reside in a tomb

And this is obvious universally perceptible

That life's harder since I left your womb

The birds no longer sing me awake

It's that you’re no longer in my dream

The thought that one day I'll forget you

My eyes start to gleam

Crazy it is that a day will pass

When I'll remember and not cry

And I'll look up to the million stars

But not you in the night sky
